1. Who can apply for properties through the Leicestershire Choice Based Lettings?

Other than in exceptional circumstances, home seekers from outside the sub-region who

have no local connection to any of the seven partner local authorities within the subregion,

will be not qualify to register on the Leicestershire Choices Based Lettings Scheme.

 

2. How do I apply to join the Register?

You will need to complete an application form. You can apply online at

www.nwleicshomes.org.uk 

or print off a copy of the application form from this site. You can also contact

the Housing Choices Team on 0800 183 0357 where arrangements can be made for an

 

application to be taken over the telephone.

 

3. I can't submit an online application as the following message comes up.

'The following error has occurred, you must resolve the issue highlighted before

continuing:

The combination of National Insurance Number and Date of Birth entered is already

present on our system. Please contact us for further information'.

This means that you have previously completed an application and you always keep the

same Home seeker reference number which is 5 digits long beginning with 6 . All you need

to do is go to

www.nwleics-homes.org.uk and log in using your unique reference number

and the main home seeker's date of birth is your memorable date and then complete your

application.

4. What is my memorable date?

That is the main home seeker's date of birth i.e. 1

st January 1900 would be 01/01/1900

5. How do I make my application a joint one?

You log into

www.nwleics-homes.org.uk and then click on 'Log in/My Account'. Enter your

details and click 'Login'. You then need to click onto "My housing register" and enter the

details of the joint applicant. When you have finished, click on the 'Update/Submit' button.

Once submitted we will write / email you confirming the documents we require to action the

amendments.

6. Can I go on a Housing Association's waiting list as well?

There is no need to apply separately to most Housing Associations. The Housing Register

is shared by all the large Housing Associations in the area. The Council also has

nomination agreements with most of the other Housing Associations in the area. Most

Housing Association vacancies will be advertised through our web site. However, some of

the small Housing Associations will continue to keep their own waiting lists.

7. How long will it before I can bid?

Once you submit a fully completed application with all the supporting documents then it

can take approximately 10 working days to process.

8. I have just completed an online application and it says you need proofs. When do I

bring them in?

Once we receive an application form, we check the form is fully completed with all the

information and write / email you within 10 working days with a list of what documents we

require.

9. How do you accept the documents :

a) The quickest and cheapest way is to scan and email them to

b) You can post

photocopies only to

Please note - we cannot accept responsibility for any original documents sent

through the post

c) You can bring them into the Council offices and queue for the Housing desk where

the duty officer will photocopy the documents.

10. How can I remove someone from my Housing application?

If you are the main home seeker then you need to log onto

www.nwleics-homes.org.uk

and click on the 'Login/My Account' tab. Enter your details and click onto 'Login'. Click onto

'My Housing Register' and make the necessary amendments. When you have finished,

click on the 'Update/Submit' button. We will then receive notification of your request and it

will be actioned within 10 workings days.

11. How long will it take to be housed?

We cannot say as it depends on availability of suitable housing and who else may be

bidding.

12. I was number 1 when bidding and now I am number 12. How can this happen?

This is because bidding is open for a week and people can bid at anytime during that

period. When more people place bids after you, then your bidding position may change.

13. I have moved address what do I need to do?

You log into

www.nwleics-homes.org.uk and then click on 'Log in/My Account'. Enter your

details and click 'Login'. You then need to click onto "My housing register" and amend your

details. When you have finished, click on the 'Update/Submit' button. We will also require

proof of new address i.e. utility bill or tenancy agreement.

14. My circumstances have changed. How can I amend my housing application?

You log into

www.nwleics-homes.org.uk and then click on 'Log in/My Account'. Enter your

details and click 'Login'. You then need to click onto "My housing register" and amend your

details. When you have finished, click on the 'Update/Submit' button. Once submitted we

will write / email you confirming the documents we require to action the amendments. we

require.

15. What size property can I bid for?

Please click on the link showing properties home seekers can bid for matrix.

16. How can I check whether a bid has registered?

You need to log onto

www.nwleics-homes.org.uk and click on the 'Login/My Account' tab,

enter your details and Login. Click on 'My bids' and this will show you all your active bids.

If no bid is showing then you have not placed the bid correctly and need to repeat the

process.

17. What happens after bidding closes?

If you have finished number 1 after bidding has closed then your housing application will

be checked to ensure the details are correct and you are eligible for the property. Once all

checks have been completed then you could be contacted for a viewing. You should

continue to place bids on the next bidding cycle as you are not automatically guaranteed

the property.

18. How do I know what number I ended up after bidding closes?

You need to log onto

www.nwleics-homes.org.uk and click on the 'Login/My Account' tab,

enter your details and Login. Click on 'My Bids'. This will show what number you were after

bidding has closed.

19. At what age can children have their own bedroom?

 

Same sex children up to the age of 16 can share a bedroom.

 

Different sex children up to age 10 can share a bedroom.

20. How can I register for mutual exchange?

You need to go to

www.homeswapper.co.uk to register. Once you have registered then

HomeSwapper will contact your landlord to confirm whether you are eligible to join before

activating your HomeSwapper account.
